Believe it or not, I have never taken a self portrait, until now. My job is to document other people’s lives and milestones. I try hard to document my family’s life as well, which is not always an easy task, as life can so quickly get in the way. I thought this was a necessary milestone that I needed to document. My husband, Jeff, and I are expecting our third child this spring. Pregnancy is such an incredible miracle, and even third time around I’m in awe of what a woman’s body can do.
I wanted one beautiful image to capture this pregnancy.
Behind the scenes:
I set up my tripod and used a remote trigger to create this image. Although I do have a studio, I decided to use natural light and backlit myself right in my own living room to create this ethereal feel.
I know some women are reluctant to have their photo taken during pregnancy. We don’t always feel our best, we’re tired and swollen. But trust me, it’s worth it! Part of my job is to make you feel beautiful in your own skin and celebrate this beautiful milestone in your life. I will help you plan your maternity session from outfits to location and photograph you at angles that will make you shine. I do offer maternity gowns for use during our maternity sessions, to give your session an extra special look.
My older two children love looking back at photos of when they were “in Mommy’s belly.” I’ve added these photos to my children’s baby books and we love to look back over the years and remember those special times.
If you or someone you know would like me to create a similar maternity portrait for you or a loved one, please contact me here.
