There are two things that I want you to realize when you see this photo:
1. If you’re a professional photographer, don’t forget to take personal photos (and edit them!! and print them!!). It’s important for your creativity and for archiving your life and creating heirlooms for your family to one day look back upon.
And if you are not a photographer, hire one!
2. Realize how important it is to your child when they give you a gift, no matter what it is. My dear 4 (and almost a half) year old daughter is a giver. Really. She gives me everything . . . as gifts. “Here mommy!” I look down, it’s a small photo of Lady Gaga that she cut out from a People magazine and then glued a sequin and a microscopic piece of ribbon to. It’s hard to treasure every single one of these “gifts” but I know how hard she worked on it and I know that she wants to give it to me as a present out of the sweet precious goodness of her heart. So, I grin ear to ear and say “thank you sweat heart, I love it.” {And then I stash it somewhere for a week in case she asks about it, and eventually discard it}. But I am a big believer that she feels so proud when she gives these gifts and I don’t want to rain on that parade.
On that note, the above photo is a large pile of dandelions that my daughter picked from our [neighbor’s] yard and gave to me as a gift.
It’s the little things . . .
I love these "gifts" from my children! They’re the best gifts of all!
Your neighbor is probably pretty happy that she had someone pulling her weeds today 😉
How sweet of her. Love it!
Tears in my eyes. So touching, so sweet. And, you’re so right on both counts. (Oh, and, by the way, great photo of the dandilions.)
