Don’t get me wrong, I love photographing all milestone sessions, however, my absolute favorite is what we call the “sitter” session. Sitter sessions typically take place between 6-9 months. How do you know when your baby is ready for their sitter session? Well, just as the name indicates, you want your baby to be sitting on their own nicely. But it’s best not to wait until they’re moving around and crawling too much. Another important thing to note, is that when your baby is at this stage, they [usually] have a regular nap schedule so it makes for planning the session a bit easier. You know your baby best, if they are likely in a happier mood in the early morning, let me know so we can schedule accordingly. Or, perhaps, your baby is happiest after his/her first nap and after they’ve eaten lunch. If so, I can absolutely accommodate that, too. When the Cleveland weather permits, I also am happy to do outdoor sitter sessions, which allow for a different look than in-studio sessions.
This little client was 8 months old when she came to my studio for her sitter session, and she was just at that perfect sweet spot of sitting beautifully but not too active that she would be able to crawl away.
Have a look at this little munchkin’s sitter session:
